Family Days Out In Southampton, In And Around Itchen Valley
If you are planning a visit to Go Ape Itchen Valley, near Southampton with your family then you are in for a treat.
This is a family day out with a difference: as well as the thrill of exploring Itchen Valley Country Park from high up in the treetops, you will also find yourselves surrounded by 440 acres of beautiful woodland and meadows. You and your tribe will be faced with high ropes, crossings, tunnels and bridges; all of which will leave you feeling energised and on top of the world. But for the ultimate in exhilaration, wait until you're flying down the epic zip wire. Back on terra firma, you might want to make a day of it, so here are some ideas of places to go in the area.
Where to go?
Itchen Valley Country Park
Once you have explored Itchen Valley from the treetops, you can take your adventures down to ground level. There is plenty to see and do within the Country Park including the Meadows Nature Trail (taking in the historic water meadow), the Totem Trail (tracking down four wooden totem poles located around the site), and the Play Trail (for little legs). You can explore the unspoilt countryside of Itchen Valley Country Park through the seasons and enjoy pond dipping, play areas and picnic spots along the way.

Southampton is one of Britain's celebrated maritime cities, with a port that is still buzzing with ferries and liners. We all know that, but how well do we know the true Southampton? Away from the port you can find the old town, a ruined castle, a 12th century city gate, a 15th century Tudor house, and a Medieval merchant's house, as well as city parks. Curious about... Southampton takes you on a journey of discovery with stories, facts and clues about the city. Download the booklet online and get to know the city a little better.
