Our enchanting parks and woodlands are bursting with life. From bolshy characters who nick your chips to the more secretive souls seen once in a blue moon – we share our forest homes with some remarkable (and sometimes very surprising) creatures.

Here are our top Go Ape locations at which you can experience all of our adventures and once you have conquered them you can enjoy some of the UK's finest parks and woodlands and the wild life they have to offer.

Whinlatter, England's only true Mountain Forest, is home to stunning views and fantastic walks.

It’s also a haven for wildlife. Nip to the Visitor Centre to learn all about Whinlatter’s resident Ospreys. The pair are the first to breed in the Lake District for over 150 years, journeying from Africa to Bassenthwaite Lake to raise their young during spring and summer. You can even get a close-up view via the Visitor Centre’s nestcam, live from April to August.

Whinlatter Mouse

They’re an icon of British wildlife, but very rarely seen in the flesh (or should that be fur..?). But up amongst the lowland forests of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Aberfoyle, red squirrels have found the perfect home in which to thrive.

A dedicated hide gives you the chance to catch a glimpse of these elusive residents – and with numbers relatively healthy in this part of Scotland, the odds are definitely in your favour.

Cameras at the ready.

Aberfoyle Cow
Forest of Dean

Although wild boar became extinct in England some 300 years ago, an escape from a local Gloucestershire farm in the 1990s enabled a handful of individuals to reestablish a resident population.

Encountering boar in the wild is an incredibly rare and thrilling experience (that's why we have a photo of a little bird).

Their low, primal growls have been likened to those of lions, and although there have been a handful of negative experiences, pro-pig defenders insist that – on the whole – the animals are harmless.

Forest of Dean Bird

Tree Top Adventurers at Woburn can enjoy encounters with all the usual suspects of the English countryside. Sights could include squirrels, sparrows or wallabies…

Yep, we said wallabies. Although these Aussie marsupials might seem a little out of place in Bedfordshire, they’ve found a brilliant home in Woburn Safari Park.

Our Go Ape course towers above the exotic countryside-cum-savannah, and your recipient’s drive to the Cabin will take them through fields of zebra and elephants.
