The first Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure to be set in the grounds of a magnificent country house hotel, our outdoor adventure is nestled within one of the UK’s most un-spoilt areas of natural beauty. And you will get to appreciate it all from the forest canopy.

Lap up some of the finest scenery in Matfen’s 300 acres of historic parkland and enjoy a tree-mendous day out.

Below is a snapshot of when our forest doors open…

We're open from February to November, but we close our forest doors during December and January (...it gets a little chilly and we like to maintain our adventures so they're all ready to go in 2012).

Saturdays in February and March

23rd March – 30th October daily.

Closed Tuesday and Wednesday (during term time).

We'll also be open Friday evenings in the summer from 8th June to 20th July.

Weekends only throughout November.

By car

From the Stagshaw roundabout on the A68 or Heddon-on-the Wall off the A69, take the Military Road (B6318)  east from Stagshaw and west from Heddon, before turning off towards Matfen - look out for brown signs for Matfen Hall.  We are with the Par 3 golf course and Driving Range, just south of the Hall.

Due to the rural nature of our locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using sat-nav directions. Please always cross reference with a map.

It's not something I thought would Interest me but once I befit started I has a lot of fun. From the safety training I felt I was in good hands and able to relax and have fun. Swinging from trees was certainly a challenge for me but would certainly do it again

Didn't like the idea of how an instructor never came around with you, but after the 2nd site I did feel alot more confident, even if I need just need someone else to confirm I was attached right before going down the zip wire. The tarazan swing was scary and I was going to bottle it, but I thought just do it, glad I did as it was probably the best thing there.

the course itself was brilliant and very reasonably priced. the only downside is that no food or drink is provided onsite. also it is difficult to find and could use better directions

It was an interesting experience and a really fun activity to do with a bunch of friends. I did it for my birthday and i would definitely recommend it for a birthday, with a couple of people.
