The first Tree Top Adventure to be set in the grounds of a magnificent country house hotel, our adventure is nestled within one of the UK’s most un-spoilt areas of natural beauty. And you will get to appreciate it all from the trees.

Lap up some of the finest scenery in Matfen’s 300 acres of historic parkland and enjoy a great day out.

Below is a snapshot of when our forest doors open…

We're open from February to November, but we close our forest doors during December and January (...it gets a little chilly and we like to maintain our adventures so they're all ready to go in 2012).

Saturdays in February and March

23rd March – 30th October daily.

Closed Tuesday and Wednesday (during term time).

We'll also be open Friday evenings in the summer from 8th June to 20th July.

Weekends only throughout November.

By car

From Newcastle on the A69, turn off for Heddon-on-the-Wall and turn right again for the B6318 at the Three Tuns Pub, follow this for about 6 miles. After the Robin Hood Inn you will see signs for Matfen and Matfen Hall Country House Hotel, turn right and after 2 miles you’ll see signs for the Golf Driving Range and Go Ape! on your right.

From Carlisle/Hexham on the A69, turn left at Corbridge for the A68, heading North to Jedburgh. At the roundabout turn right (3rd exit) onto the B6318 and you will start to see signs for Matfen Hall Country House Hotel. After 4 miles turn left and after 2 miles you’ll see signs for the Golf Driving Range and Go Ape! on your right.

If you are in the village or at the Hotel you have gone too far!

Great day out. Very impressed with the staff and was very pleased to be offered the use of the site camera so I didn't have to carry my much larger camera around the course. Thumbs up all round.

Staff were all very polite and attentive. The safety brief was light hearted yet ideally pitched and sufficient to enforce the rules!. I have never been to Go ape before so didnt know what to expect. It was a great all round experience and I will no doubt be back again soon.
