Tree Top Junior FAQs

Junior-v1

We’ve built this section to answer your questions and allow you to get on and have some fun.

Booking your Adventure

What is Go Ape Tree Top Junior?

A fun filled hour of canopy exploring, trail blazing and obstacles for all to enjoy. You’ll negotiate 20 crossings over 3 trails and finish on a high (literally) with one awesome zip wire!

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend that you book in advance as our courses tend to get booked up especially during weekends and school holidays. You can book online or by phone on 0845 643 9215.

What will it cost me?

Our prices are:

£15 per person participating on the course (activity lasts approx. 1 hour).

Can I Go Ape! Tree Top Junior?

Minimum Height – 1 metre (we advise an adult accompanying those under 1.1m).

Maximum Weight – 20.5 stone/130kg.

Juniors (6+) – Are able to participate on the course unaccompanied, although adults are welcome to join them. Participating Juniors require at least one adult per group of 6 to supervise, either on the course (paying) or from the ground (no charge), for the duration of the activity.

Children (under 6 years) – Must be accompanied on the course by a participating Adult, one Adult can accompany 2 under 6s, although we advise 1 to 1 on the Child’s first visit.

Can I accompany under 6s and supervise over 6s?

For small groups this is fine, but for larger groups (4+) we would strongly advise additional adults to at least supervise from the ground.

How many adults should I bring?

Our Tree Top Junior courses are in an open forest environment. Our instructors are more than equipped to look after all our customer’s needs up in the trees. However we do not have spare staff on the ground to look after anyone who may not want to take part, finishes early, needs to use the facilities or any other eventuality you may have on a family day out. We therefore recommend you bring enough adults in your party to accommodate these situations, as well as covering our course supervision requirements. (At least 1 adult for every 6 children).

Arrival and Ape Attire

What time do I need to arrive?

Make your way to the Go Ape cabin and be ready to get going on your Go Ape adventure at your booked time. Allow plenty of time as it may take considerably longer than you think to drive into the forest, park and get to the Go Ape cabin, particularly on busy days when traffic queuing is more likely.

What should I wear?

We suggest that you wear something you don’t mind getting grubby. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if it’s raining! Please wear appropriate footwear with soles with good grips. No sandals or slip-off shoes. Some people recommend thin gloves. Long hair must be tied back.

What happens in bad weather?

Go Ape! Tree Top Junior is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, very windy, stormy or during lightning. Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather.

Do I need to bring any paperwork?

No just bring yourself and your tribe.

I am bringing a big group, what else can I do?

We would advise a visit to the site to familiarize yourself with the set up and lay out of the park in general (toilets and picnic areas). Our instructors will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Organising your party in to smaller groups can help make check in easier.  And younger and smaller children may need close support on the course so teaming them with a confident adult would be a good idea.
Each under 18 will need to be signed for by an over 18 (ideally the one who will be supervising them either from the ground or on the course) and you will need to fill out their ages and date of birth on the form.

Up in the Trees

How long does the course take?

The Go Ape! Tree Top Junior adventure takes 1 hour to complete and that includes your safety briefing.

Can my pri-mates come and watch, take pictures and observe from the forest floor?

Yes – that’s a great idea to get them in the forest. At Moors Valley you can have as many of your (pri)mates as you want capturing those swinging moments.

Swinging Safety

Is it safe?

You are always attached during Go Ape! Tree Top Junior and instructors are always present so you’re free to swing safely in the trees.

Gift Vouchers

How do I give the gift of adventure?

The gift of Go Ape makes a great present for any Gorilla. You can buy gift vouchers that last for one year and can be used for any of our Go Ape experiences at any of our UK sites.

We come to Moors Valley a lot and my two (aged 7 and 9) have always watched the ‘apes’ with envy. I’m really pleased that they can finally have a go, plus it will give them good training for going on the big course in a couple of years time. We are trying it out later today – can’t wait!

  • Basingstokelot

Does anyone know how high of the ground this is ???? Would love to take tr kids, but it’s me who is scared of heights !!!!

    • Anonymous

It varies from site to site – but don’t worry Go Ape is great for combating your fears! See you soon.

      • Basingstokelot

  • onetengrant

All the info says it is great for children above six but will it appeal to a group of 10/11 year old boys?

    • Anonymous

Absolutely. All boys like getting high up in trees!

  • Caroline Mumford

Is there a way that we could take our disabled child on the swings? He is unable to walk but loves adventure, he is 5 yrs old.

  • Erin Paul

    • Anonymous

We use 4 years as a guide. It’s probably a good idea to go to the course and have a look for yourself. We have Junior courses at our Moors Valley and our Thetford adventures. More coming soon!

  • Paula

How high are the Junior courses? compared to normal course. Not scared of heights here just don’t want the girls to be disappointed that too low!

    • Anonymous

They range between 5 – 8 metres. They are not much lower than our original tree top adventure. The Go Ape Tribe.

    Hi

We haven’t visited yet, but wondered how accessible the trail is from the ground for a wheelchair user? Or would you advise against it?

    • Anonymous

You’ll be able to view the adventure from the ground in a wheelchair. Enjoy, The Go Ape Tribe
