Plans for the new site include three high-ropes adventures suitable for participants over 1m tall. These will be Go Ape’s: Treetop Challenge, Treetop Adventure Plus and Treetop Adventure. There will be 100 challenging aerial crossings, 8 ziplines and a Tarzan Swing on the Treetop Challenge experience. All the courses will use a continuous belay system, a simple and transfer-free safety system, which allows participants to remain attached until they return to the ground. These high-ropes courses will be located in the woodlands at the Writtle Entrance side of the park, close to the main car park.

Go Ape Managing Director, Nick Hall, said, “Go Ape is incredibly excited to be launching its tree top high-ropes activities at the beautiful and historic Hylands Park in Chelmsford. This is our first site in Essex and we look forward to delivering amazing experiences to a new audience of adventurers. Now adults, families and children from Chelmsford and the surrounding areas, as well as school groups and corporates, can take on a new challenge in the great outdoors.

We will be working closely with Chelmsford City Council and other partners on the Hylands Park estate over the coming months and years to ensure we have a positive local and community impact. Go Ape is an enriching outdoor activity offering with physical and mental health benefits, plus a new site will facilitate up to 20 full and part-time jobs within our Employee-Owned business."

Councillor Rose Moore, Chelmsford City Council’s Cabinet Member for Greener and Safer Chelmsford also said: “Almost a quarter of Hylands Estate is covered in woodland and it’s wonderful that people will be able to have new experiences in our woods and see the park from a different perspective.

Hylands really is becoming a top destination that offers a full day out for all the family. With our existing adventure playground, the Artists’ studios, refreshment stops, a brand-new multimedia tour, and now the addition of Go Ape, it offers exciting experiences which help everyone to connect with the natural environment.”
