WHO IS THE ACTIVITY FOR?

Axe Throwing is normally available to participants aged 16 years and over. However, we are currently running a trial at three locations – Aberfoyle, Coventry and Matfen– where participants aged 12–15 can also take part, provided they are supervised by an adult. All participants receive a safety briefing from a trained instructor who remains present throughout the session.

12 – 15 YEAR OLDS
12 – 15 YEAR OLDS

One adult over 18 years can supervise up to eight children aged 12–15 years (at Aberfoyle, Coventry and Matfen). Supervising adults can take part in the activity or supervise from the side, but they must remain present for the duration of the session.

At Black Park, Bracknell, Leeds Castle and Southampton, the minimum age remains 16, and there isn't a supervision requirement.

Me and my family attended here on Sunday afternoon. What a great time we had! Staff were more than accommodating and so helpful and super friendly. Our harnesses were checked regularly and thoroughly throughout our visit too. We felt really welcomed and safe. We will be going again soon, thanks so much

Had a wonderful time at the Axe-throwing yesterday! I have to admit I was a bit anxious about it and how terrible I would be, but actually…it was super-fun! The lady that was there from the team to teach us and support was also very nice. I’ll definitely be back :)

For the safety of both mother and child, Go Ape strongly recommends that pregnant women do not take part in our adventures.

Our adventures are robust physical activities involving climbing, balancing, and zipping, which naturally carry a degree of risk. While we don't want to be discriminatory, we are not medical experts.

We strongly encourage you to seek advice from your doctor before deciding to participate.

If, after consulting your doctor, you choose to proceed, we will require you to formally declare your pregnancy to a staff member and sign a specific disclaimer acknowledging that:

"I have made Go Ape aware that I am pregnant and, as a result, Go Ape has recommended that I do not take part on the course. However, I have decided to take part on the course in the full knowledge that this may incur risks to my unborn child."

We want you to have a safe and wonderful experience, so please prioritise medical advice when making this decision!

We have produced this handy guide on staying safe at Go Ape in hot weather. Please have a read through to prepare for your adventure.

Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity. Our courses are substantially sheltered from rain and wind by the trees themselves so as long as you are appropriately dressed for the weather you should still have great memories of your experience. The course remains open in all weathers, except thick ice, thunderstorms and gales. Rain makes the course muddier than usual which can add to the fun, but you might want dry clothes to change into for the journey home.

If we have to close for unsafe weather conditions, we will offer you a refund, credit note or reschedule your booking. If unsafe weather is forecasted we will aim to make the decision as early as possible, and will do our best to contact you to try and save you a wasted journey.

Yes, dogs are allowed. Please note that dogs are not able to join you on the course, and some areas of the site may not permit dogs (such as the café or play areas).

There is hot food, drinks and snacks available from The Woodlarks Cafe, in the Lookout Discovery Centre. Please check their website for opening times as it may vary seasonally.

Baby-changing facilities and accessible toilets are available in The Lookout Discovery Centre which is a short 2-3 minute walk from our cabin.

The main paths around the site are uneven. Wheelchairs and pushchairs can access the cabin and spectator areas, but some forest paths may be challenging. If you have any specific accessibility needs, please contact us before your visit so we can help.

Yes, parking is available in The Lookout Carpark. Charges apply, so please check local signage or the Bracknell Forest Council website before your visit. We recommend arriving early during peak times to give yourself enough time to find a space.

We have space for small items at the cabin, but storage is not secure, so belongings are left at your own risk. We recommend bringing as little as possible.

We have toilets on site. There are also toilets located in The Lookout Discovery centre which is a short 2-3 minute walk from our cabin. There are no toilets out on the course, so we recommend using them before starting your activity.
