Driving Directions

Find us at Birches Valley Forest Centre, 2 miles from Rugeley where Birches Valley road meets Penkridge Bank road.

From the M6 or Cannock: follow the A460 towards Rugeley. The brown signs with the deer logo direct along the A460 through Hednesford to a left turn onto Station Road by a Chase Car Sales. Immediately you will go over the railway bridge to a set of traffic lights. Turn right onto Brindley Heath Road. After 2 miles you will reach a crossroads, turn right onto Birches Valley. In 2 miles you will reach Birches Valley Visitor Centre.

From Rugeley: from Globe Island in Rugeley town centre, take Western Springs Road towards Stafford for 400 yards and turn left at the traffic lights, as directed by the brown sign onto Hagley Road.

Parking may be harder in summer, if you’re struggling to find a space call 07771 812608 or let a forestry ranger know, they’ll help as best they can.

Public Transport

The closest train stations are Rugeley Trent Valley, Rugeley Town or Hednesford where there are buses from. There are also buses from Stafford, Cannock and Rugeley.

What to wear and bring

Dress for fun in the forest! Closed, sturdy shoes are a must — no heels, slip-ons, flip-flops or Crocs (they might be comfy, but they're not adventure-proof). Keep your midriff covered so your harness sits over clothing, and tie back long hair — we don't want it catching in the treetops.

Oh, and trust us on this one — don't wear white. The forest floor has a sense of humour, and it doesn't play nicely with laundry day. Our adventures are great in all weathers, as long as you're prepared!

Our blog covers what to wear in every season and what to bring for a brilliant day out.
