Let’s start with Treetop Adventure – our entry-level experience for young explorers over 1m tall (typically 4+). It’s packed with easy crossings, gentle zips and confidence-boosting fun. You can join your child in the trees or cheer from the ground – either way, it’s the perfect first taste of forest adventure.
Treetop Challenge vs Treetop Adventure – Which One’s Right for You?
We often get asked: “What’s the difference between Treetop Adventure, Adventure Plus, Treetop Challenge and Challenge Plus?” Great question — all four take you high into the trees for zip lines, wobbly crossings and unbeatable forest fun. The difference lies in how high you go, how tricky it gets, and who it’s designed for. Whether you’re booking for the kids, a family day out or your next big adrenaline hit, here’s how to choose your perfect Go Ape adventure.
Next up, Treetop Adventure Plus – designed for kids aged 6-10 (over 1.2m and aged 6+) or older children looking to build their confidence. It’s got longer zip lines, trickier obstacles and bigger thrills, while still being super fun and family-friendly.
Then there’s Treetop Challenge – our signature high ropes experience for teens and adults (recommended age 10 years, 1.4m+). Expect Tarzan Swings, wobbly crossings and epic zip lines through the forest. It’s all about pushing yourself and sharing unforgettable moments with friends or family.
Across the UK, our Treetop Challenge courses use two different safety systems – Continuous Belay and Self Belay.
-
Continuous Belay means you’re attached to the safety line from start to finish, so you can focus on the fun while staying connected the whole time.
-
Self Belay gives you more freedom to move at your own pace — you’ll switch between obstacles yourself using two safety lines. Don’t worry though, our team will train you before you set off, and you’ll always be securely attached.
The safety system also affects the age and supervision requirements, so it’s worth checking your chosen location’s page before you book.
And finally, Challenge Plus – the next-level version of our classic course (minimum age 10 and 1.4m tall). Think higher platforms, tougher crossings and even bigger zip lines for those who really want to test their limits. It’s made for the “bring it on” crowd who love an extra dose of adrenaline.
Whichever you choose, we’ll get you fully briefed and kitted up before you climb. Every course is built with safety, confidence and maximum fun in mind – so you can let go of the ground, take in the views and live life adventurously.
