1. High Ropes - Treetop Challenge and Challenge Plus (for the really brave)
Your team, a network of rope bridges, zip wires and a Tarzan Swing or two, all suspended in the forest canopy. There's no need to fake confidence up here, everyone's outside their comfort zone and everyone's cheering everyone else on.
Why it works: Shared physical challenge builds trust faster than any icebreaker exercise. The person who talks the least in meetings is often the one calmly walking a wobbly bridge while everyone else grips the safety line for dear life, and that flips team dynamics in a good way.
Ideal team size: 6–100+ (runs in small groups on the course simultaneously)
Difficulty: Moderate to high. It's physically engaging and a head for heights helps, but harnesses and safety briefings mean anyone reasonably fit can do it.
2. Axe Throwing
Give a stressed-out team a target and an axe and watch the tension leave the arena. Structured, coached and surprisingly engrossing once you get the technique.
Why it works: It's satisfying, slightly chaotic and levels the playing field, seniority means nothing when the intern is out-throwing the MD. This one's social too, there's plenty of space to cheer each other on and catch up with colleagues between throws.
Ideal team size: 6–20
Difficulty: Easy to pick up, hard to master — that's the appeal.
3. Forest Segways
Swap the office chairs for heavy-duty, all-terrain Segways. Teams get an instructor-led training session before heading out to explore rugged, winding forest trails together.
Why it works: It forces people to zero in on the task in magnificant outdoor settings. Learning a brand-new skill alongside your work tribe breaks down corporate hierarchies instantly and leaves you buzzing. Plus, cruising through the woods is pure joy.
Ideal team size: 4–16
Difficulty: Easy to moderate — a few minutes of practice and most people are away.
4. Archery Tag
Dodgeball meets archery meets low-key department rivalry. Foam-tipped arrows, inflatable barricades and full permission to finally get Marketing back for all those emails (yep, we send a lot).
Why it works: Structured competition brings out the best in your team. Comradery and communication flourish as colleagues work together to take home the 'win'.
Ideal team size: 10–48 (splits into teams)
Difficulty: Easy to play, genuinely competitive once people commit. Watch out for the quiet ones.
5. Codebreakers Escape Room
Exclusive to Go Ape Battersea Park. A Go Ape themed puzzle experience where each team has to think, communicate and problem-solve to rescue to ape totem before the clock runs out. Watch the natural (and unexpected) leaders emerge and the lateral thinkers show their true colours.
Why it works: Nothing exposes and improves group problem-solving faster than a ticking clock and a competitive puzzle. Teams leave having actually practised communication, not just talked about it.
Ideal team size: 5–20. The puzzle room has 4 stations (teams) with a maximum of 5 people at each.
Difficulty: Moderate — mentally challenging, physically easy.
