Haldon

Against the backdrop of the stunning Dartmoor, Go Ape Haldon Forest is as far south as we venture. Your adventure though is definitely northwards as you scale the heights of the treetops. A great location for thrill seekers and family adventurers with hilltop to hilltop zip wires and daring high level crossings. You may be deep in the forest but the 360-degree views from your treetop vantage point are spectacular.

LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTURE IN DEVON?

Go Ape Haldon is the gateway to fun and adventure on the moors. You’ll find us 15-minutes from Exeter nestled in 3,500-acres of woodland. Whether sat on top of a tree or moving between sites on the course you’ll get to appreciate the beauty of the Dartmoor landscape.

With its many walking and cycling trails it’s a busy park, popular with mountain bikers and walking groups. Take your pick from four walking trails and five high-adrenaline cycling trails. Bike hire is available at the site.

There are a children’s play area and a number of trails to entice the children into the forest including the Discovery Trail which has lots of fun features, regular resting points and the promise of stunning views along the Jurassic Coast. If the younger members of your group are new to two wheels, it’s also a great trail for beginner cyclists.

Make a day of it – there are a number of picnic areas or grab a drink and bite to eat in the Ridge Café.

Know Before You Go

  • Wear sensible clothes for adventure.
  • Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
  • Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.

make a day of it

  • Bring or hire bikes to explore the mountain bike trails.
  • Take the children on a forest journey with Zog the dragon.
  • Let the kids blow off steam in the children’s play area.
  • Venture over to Canonteign Falls, England’s highest manmade waterfall.
  • We all had a brilliant few hours. Very well organised and fun for all the family

  • We all had a fantastic time! The staff were very good and explained all the safety aspects to us before we set off. We had such a laugh - or was it hysteria?! It was very exciting/scary/exhilarating and when we finished we wanted to go round again. Will definitely go back!

  • Excellent experience from the outset. Staff when you sign in were so genuinely friendly and really eager to help ( brunettes welsh lady 5*). Varied courses which ranged in difficulty- we did the junior course. Spent an hour there but could have easily spent longer. We had two 8 year olds and two 11 year old- perfect size for it. Only critique is it is not clear or sign posted from the car park how to get to Go Ape. Having never been there before and the car park and area being really big I think it could do with having some signs to tell you where to go.
