Against the backdrop of the stunning Dartmoor, Go Ape Haldon Forest is as far south as we venture. Your adventure though is definitely northwards as you scale the heights of the treetops. A great location for thrill seekers and family adventurers with hilltop to hilltop zip wires and daring high level crossings. You may be deep in the forest but the 360-degree views from your treetop vantage point are spectacular.

go ape adventures at haldon

Go Ape Haldon is the gateway to fun and adventure on the moors. You’ll find us 15-minutes from Exeter nestled in 3,500-acres of woodland. Whether sat on top of a tree or moving between sites on the course you’ll get to appreciate the beauty of the Dartmoor landscape.

With its many walking and cycling trails it’s a busy park, popular with mountain bikers and walking groups. Take your pick from four walking trails and five high-adrenaline cycling trails. Bike hire is available at the site.

There are a children’s play area and a number of trails to entice the children into the forest including the Discovery Trail which has lots of fun features, regular resting points and the promise of stunning views along the Jurassic Coast. If the younger members of your group are new to two wheels, it’s also a great trail for beginner cyclists.

Make a day of it – there are a number of picnic areas or grab a drink and bite to eat in the Ridge Café.

Know Before You Go

  • Wear sensible clothes for adventure.
  • Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
  • Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.

make a day of it

  • Bring or hire bikes to explore the mountain bike trails.
  • Take the children on a forest journey with Zog the dragon.
  • Let the kids blow off steam in the children’s play area.
  • Venture over to Canonteign Falls, England’s highest manmade waterfall.
  • We were diverse group, ranging in age from 5 to 69 and including an autistic child and a disabled adult. From the first contact by phone, when I wanted to find out if this was a feasible ideal, the GoApe team were supportive, inclusive and positive. That wonderful attitude continued until we had all finished. The only disappointment was that the 5 year old autistic child has to wait a few years to crash into the cargo nets from a short zip wire. Thank your a great experience.

  • I couldn’t ask for better as a birthday treat to my 12 years old and her bestie. They were happy, I personally don’t like heights but I still enjoy myself. You can take as long as you need to go around the course. Gate locks do need to be sorted, just be persistent, you will understand. Enjoy it.

  • We all had a great time completing the junior course; two adults and a 9 year old. The high courses were fun and a little challenging, well for Mum anyway (we're not quite ready for the big course yet)! If only you could go up and down the zip wire all session the 9 year old would have been even more happy!! All the staff members were very polite with a good sense of humour. We will definately be back as a family and have also booked for a birthday party. Highly recommended!
