Thetford Forest

Where the Go Ape story first began in 2002 and now the one, two, three of forest fun with Treetop ChallengeTreetop Adventure, Treetop Adventure Plus and Forest Segways. Thetford Forest Go Ape is a great course for holding a surprise party or event.

Cleverly designed in a horseshoe shape, the fun unfurls as you navigate your way along the treetop crossings. The dual course nature of this forest location and the new slackline crossing means you can dial up the challenge or keep it sure but steady.

here's where it all began!

The long, windy drive deep into the centre of the forest sets the scene for this Go Ape location. Tall trees and dense forest provide an ever-changing seasonal backdrop and if you come in summer, the Rhododendrons are a striking sight.

This stunning location has loads to offer for both the thrill seekers and the ‘need to get the family out and about seekers’. If you’re one of the former and enjoy going off the beaten bike track then head for the bike trails – there’s one which is described as having ‘severe, challenging and extremely difficult features!’

There are also a number of other cycling routes more suited to family riding, plus running and orienteering routes.

You can perfect your aim by giving Lookout Archery a go, or take things back to basics on a bushcraft survival course (Back to Wilderness).

Children get a big look in at Thetford which is famous for its free adventurous play facilities – there are giant swings, pyramids, a treehouse and they can bang out music of their own making on the Sound Trail.

  • 4 star because some people were very slow and making it less enjoyable for us maybe if you get them more confident on lower equipment, apart from that everything was amazing: the staff were polite, zipline was brilliant everything was great. Written by 10,12 and 14 year old children

  • Staff very friendly and helpful. They saw the look of terror on my face, asked if I was ok and pointed out the next exit point for me. But decided to carry on with brave face for my children. We were only doing the junior one and that was plenty high enough!!

  • One of the hardest physical activities I have ever done! But I did it & feel very proud of myself. My Husband & boys all absolutely LOVED it! The staff were all so friendly & safety is definitely their first priority. Brilliant day out. Only two things I can fault - would be helpful to have a few of the rangers out amongst the course at all times for any questions while going round. And also I’d have loved a ranger at the end to cheer participants on when they reach the final zip wire!! I was first to finish in our group of 4 & had no one there at the end!

  • Well maintained and challenging course with helpful staff and clear instructions. Made an energetic 10 year very happy.

  • Great course and lots of fun but it’s the staff who really make Thetford Forest Go Ape an amazing place! Whilst my two older children went round I sat and watched several occasions where the staff were supporting younger kids, building their confidence, praising them for how well they did and even going up to rescue a few! They amazed me and would recommend This Go Ape because of them!
