Designed with primary-school aged kids in mind, this experience suits everyone from younger ones to the young-at-heart. It’s open to children over 1 year old who can walk unaided. We regularly have toddlers who take part and have a great time, however, the experience may not be suitable when the course is occupied with lots of energetic older children. We endeavour to keep one tree top net to a more relaxed atmosphere, aiming for a safe and fun experience for toddlers. The first sessions in the morning, or last in the afternoon tend to be the quietest.
One adult (18+) can supervise 2 children aged 6 and under and must participate in the activity.
One adult (18+) can supervise 5 children aged 6-15 years old from the course or on the ground.

Take to the trails
Put the families map reading skills to test on the Gruffalo Orienteering trail.

Go to the play areas
There are giant swings, pyramids, a treehouse and the Sound Trail.
Dogs are allowed within the park. It's recommended they are kept on a lead in the busy areas around car parks, cafe and play areas. There are a number of walking trails where off lead time is more appropriate for well behaved dogs with a number of poo bins available in busier areas. The MTB trails are best avoided by pedestrians and dog walkers to ensure all forest users remain safe. Dogs are allowed in the cafe. Please ensure you bring a spectator with you to look after any dogs if you are participating on the course.
There is a cafe on site that serves breakfast, lunch and snack items, including hot drinks. The opening hours vary with the seasons but it is open every day that the site is. There is also a takeaway spot open in peak periods for snacks and ice creams. High Lodge also has a bike hire shop located behind the cafe.
Baby changing and accessible facilities are located both in the toilet block by the information point and in the cafe (during opening hours). There is also a 'changing places' facility with access available on request from the information point. Further information can be found on Forestry England's website.
The main path from the accessible Adder car park to the toilets, information point, cafe and Go Ape cabin is hard surface and suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The paths below the Go Ape courses are forest floor, therefore subject to tree roots and uneven surfaces in places. There is a purpose built all access 'Heritage' trail site which is suitable for wheelchair users, pushchairs and bicycles. If you have any specific accessibility requirements please contact us ahead of your visit.
Parking is managed by Foresty England. Customers can park in any of the car parks located within the barriers. It is ticketless ANPR entry, which is paid for at the pay stations before you leave. The pay stations are located by the information point. Blue badge holders are required to pay for parking. There is an accesible car park (Adder) which is closest to the toilet block and information point.
We are able to store small items such as car keys, phones and wallets in the cabin but belongings are left at own risk. We recommend leaving any larger items in vehicles due to limited space if you arrive by car.
There are toilets at the main Forestry England information point which you pass from the car parks to our cabin. There is also an accessible toilet and a 'changing places' facility. Other toilets are also available in the cafe building which are available during their opening hours.
Go Ape Thetford is at High Lodge Forest Centre, 5 minutes from Thetford and from the A11, and 5 minutes from Brandon. There are signs at the entrance to the park and a long driveway into the forest before reaching the ANPR barriers to enter. Continue on to the parking areas and you'll see our cabin alongside the cafe.
