Adventure is in Our Nature

Our Story

While travelling through France with their young daughter, Rebecca and Tristram Mayhew spotted families swinging through the trees — all laughing together. They quit their jobs, sold everything, and brought that idea home.

In 2002, they launched the first Go Ape site in Thetford Forest. Since then, we’ve welcomed over 10 million adventurers across more than 35 locations, helping people discover the joy of life outdoors.

In 2021, Becs and Tris passed the baton to the Tribe, transferring 90% of Go Ape into employee ownership — so every team member, from full-time to seasonal, is now a co-owner of our business.

Who We Are and What We Do

We’re here to help people live life adventurously.

From tree-top challenges to ground-based adventures, we design unforgettable outdoor experiences that bring people together, build confidence and make lasting memories.

Adventure is in our DNA, but so is responsibility. We act with care for our forests, communities, and the people who make Go Ape what it is.

Our values are simple:
Keep the adventure in adventure. Do the right thing. Give back to nature and people.

Giving Back

Adventure should be for everyone. That’s why we created the Go Ape Foundation — helping young people and families overcome barriers to outdoor experiences.

We work with partners such as Go Beyond and Free to Be Kids to provide life-changing adventures for those who need them most.

We’re proud to make the world a little braver, one zip wire at a time.

Our Tribe

We call our team the Tribe — a close-knit community built on courage, care and camaraderie.

As an employee-owned business, everyone has a stake in our success and a say in our future. Whether you’re harnessing up customers in the forest or supporting behind the scenes, you’ll find a workplace that celebrates individuality, teamwork and outdoor adventure.
