Which is the best Go Ape in London?

Last updated: 24/07/23

London; the urban metropolis. The capital of England, a hive of activity where you can dine and shop until your hearts content. But did you know that Go Ape have 3 locations in Central London?

Everyone wants to know what “Go Ape is really like” but, with 36 incredible sites across the UK, each location is unique in its own way. This is especially true in London, where there are three very different Go Ape locations in Greater London alone: Go Ape Alexandra Palace, Go Ape Battersea and Go Ape Cockfosters.

So, we thought we’d ask the people who really know Go Ape, “what’s best” about each Greater London site!

The best views:

Go Ape Alexandra Palace

Go Ape Alexandra Palace combines culture, views and…mostly importantly, adventure! Ally Pally is the regal Go Ape gem of Greater London, lying right next to the stunning Alexandra Palace.

It’s the ideal day out for all ages with four unforgettable Go Ape experiences: Treetop Adventure, Treetop Adventure Plus, Treetop Challenge Xpress and Treetop Challenge – which includes the exclusive Plummet!

Go Ape Alexandra Palace is built around giant poles, rather than trees which creates a more exposed experience.

This adds to the thrill factor and also allows for even more fantastic views across London and of the sculpted landscape and Palace.

Then there’s The Plummet. Will you be daring enough to step off a 12m platform on the Treetop Challenge and plummet to the ground?

If you have already experienced a Go Ape’s Tarzan Swing, it’s a bit like that dropping sensation… but twice as intense and fun!

Once your adventure is complete, your sticker is proudly displayed and your certificate in your hand why not explore the many other attractions this site has to offer?

Explore the beautiful Alexandra Palace and its 196 acres of gardens. Or, if you still buzzing with energy, check out the year-round ice-rink or peddlo along on the boating lake. Central London is also just a short drive or train journey if you fancy a proper London day out.

Ally Pally is accessible by both train and car. The Go Ape is just a 5 minute walk from Alexandra Palace station or free parking is also available within walking distance.

The best central location:

Go Ape Battersea

Go Ape Battersea is an incredible tiered goliath of fun, set smack-bang in the middle of Greater London.

Depending on your skill (or thrill) level there’s four adventures available: Treetop Adventure, Treetop Adventure Plus, Treetop Challenge Xpress and Treetop Challenge (age and height restrictions apply).

Challenge Xpress is a very popular option which allows just as much fun as the full challenge experience in half the time (45 minutes).

But it’s the location, as well as the course, which makes Battersea a gem in London’s Go Ape crown. The site is just a 15 minute walk away from Battersea Train Station or Clapham Junction.

Then there’s the park itself. Enjoy spectacular London views as you gaze out from the tree tops and look down into the parkland.

Test your craziness against the crazy golfers below and put on a show – they will most certainly be looking up! Listen out for the roar of lions or calls of birds from the famous Battersea Zoo. Or dream of the shopping to come – you are right next to Chelsea after all!

There’s plenty of adventure to be had on the zips, wibbly-wobbly (and extreme) crossings at Go Ape Battersea but the fun doesn’t have to end when your feet touch the ground!

The best natural location:

Go Ape Cockfosters

Go Ape Cockfosters is an ideal forest day-out away from the hubbub of London life, whilst being only 20 minutes away from central London!

The towering forest canopy is perfect for , Treetop Challenge. And what a challenge it is! There’s 5 sites of rewarding fun, each of which push you out of your comfort zone and dare you to call upon your inner adventurer. There’s sky-scraping 16m platforms and there’s steep, butterfly inducing zips.

Looking to level up? Challenge Plus is our newest and most extreme high ropes activity. A dialled-up version of our classic high ropes adventure, this is only for the bravest adventurers .

Go Ape Cockfosters Tree Top Crossing

Take a deep breathe of the fresh forest air and let your worries float away as you wander through open fields and past a burbling brook to the Go Ape Cabin.

Appreciate the lack of traffic and train noises and instead listen to the birdsong and the gentle whoosh of wind through the trees – as well as a few excited forest calls!

Once your adventure begins, take in the unique sites of Cockfosters' Forest as you come back down to earth on the woodland walkways between Treetop Challenge sites.

What plants can you see? What animals? Go Ape Cockfosters is truly a treat for the senses which will leave you exhilarated and revived for when you have to get back to reality.

Best of all Go Ape Cockfosters is very accessible. It’s just a short walk from the Piccadilly Line or, if you’d prefer to travel by car, free parking is also available! This also means that central London is only a short journey away if you want to extend your day out!
