Go Ape Age Guide

We believe adventure is for everyone — from little monkeys to grown-up gorillas. Each of our activities is designed to be safe, fun and confidence-boosting, with the right level of challenge for every age and ability.

Here’s our complete age and height guide to help you find your perfect forest adventure.

Treetop Adventure

Our original family favourite! Treetop Adventure is designed for younger adventurers and first-timers finding their forest feet. Expect easy-going crossings, fun zips and plenty of smiles.

  • Recommended age: 4+ (minimum height 1m)

  • Supervision: One adult (18+) can supervise up to two children under 6 while participating or up to eight aged 6–15 from the ground or while participating.

  • Duration: 1 hour or 90-minute (select locations) sessions

  • Perfect for: Families with younger children, first-time adventurers, schools and groups

Treetop Adventure Plus

A step up from Treetop Adventure, this one adds higher platforms, longer zips and trickier crossings. It’s ideal for confident kids and adults joining them for the ride.

  • Recommended age: 6–10 years (minimum age 6 and height 1.2m)

  • Supervision: One adult (18+) can supervise up to eight children either from the ground or on the course

  • Duration: 1 hour or 90-minute (select locations) sessions

  • Perfect for: Adventurers ready to test their balance and bravery, birthday parties, schools and groups

Treetop Adventure Plus bridges the gap between easy-going fun and full-on forest thrills — perfect for building confidence before tackling the bigger challenges.

Treetop Challenge
Person swings into cargo net.

Our classic high ropes course for teens and adults, featuring epic zips, Tarzan Swings and adrenaline-pumping crossings.

Treetop Challenge courses use two different safety systems depending on the site:

  • Continuous Belay: You’re attached at the start and stay connected throughout.

  • Self Belay: You clip and unclip yourself between obstacles using a simple safety mechanism.

The belay system used at your chosen location may affect age and supervision requirements, so always check the details before booking.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 10+ (self-belay courses only)

  • Minimum Height: 1.4m

  • Supervision:

    • Continuous Belay: One adult (18+) can supervise up to two under-16s on the course or five from the ground.

    • Self Belay: One adult (18 +) must participate with up to two 10–15-year-olds on the course

  • Duration: 2–3 hours

  • Perfect for: Confident teens and adults ready for a physical and mental challenge, secondary schools and corporate groups.

Treetop Challenge is our most popular experience for families, friends and groups looking for an unforgettable day out.

Challenge Plus
Person crossing a challenging high ropes obstacle.

Challenge Plus is our toughest course yet — higher, longer and more demanding than Treetop Challenge. Available at Cockfosters, Sherwood Pines and Thetford, it’s for those who love to push their limits.

  • Minimum Age: 10 + (min height 1.4 m)

  • Duration: 2–3 hours

  • Perfect for: Thrill-seekers, experienced adventurers, team away days and groups.

Conquer this and you’ll truly earn your adventure stripes.
