Go Ape in Bad Weather – Why Rain Makes the Adventure Better

Go Ape in Bad Weather? Absolutely!

A little rain never stopped a true adventurer. Whether it’s mist in the treetops, a sprinkle of drizzle or a full-on forest downpour, Go Ape is built for all-weather fun. Our courses are designed to thrive in typical British conditions, so you can swing, climb and zip your way through the trees whatever the skies decide to do.

In fact, some of our most unforgettable moments happen when it’s wet and wild — the zip lines feel faster, the forest smells fresher, and you’ll earn even more bragging rights for taking it on in the rain.

Be Ready for Anything

If you’re planning your Go Ape adventure and the forecast looks unpredictable, preparation is key. Layer up with comfortable, weatherproof clothing and bring a lightweight waterproof jacket. Gloves are a great idea for keeping your grip warm and steady on cooler or rainy days.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good tread (no sandals or sliders) and, if it’s really wet, a change of clothes for after your session will make that post-adventure hot chocolate even sweeter.

Safety First – When the Forest Needs a Breather

While we love a bit of British weather, safety always comes first. Very occasionally, strong winds, lightning or extreme conditions can mean we need to pause or close activities temporarily.

If the forecast looks particularly wild, it’s always worth checking the Facebook page of the Go Ape site you’re visiting before you travel — our teams post live updates there if the weather is likely to affect your session.

Should your adventure be impacted by the weather, our team will contact you directly to help rearrange or reschedule your session for an alternative date.

Most of the time, though, a bit of drizzle or a light breeze just adds to the fun — and our instructors are experts at keeping you safe and smiling, whatever the skies are doing.

Why Bad Weather Makes It Better

There’s a special atmosphere in the forest when the rain starts to fall. The trees glisten, the air feels cleaner, and the sound of laughter carries even further through the canopy. It’s raw, real and refreshingly fun.

Plus, rainy days are often quieter, meaning you’ll have more time to soak up the views, take on your favourite obstacles, and zip through the forest without the crowds.

Warm Up and Celebrate

Once you’ve completed your adventure, head to the Go Ape cabin to dry off, swap stories and show off your muddy selfies. Many of our locations have cafés or local spots nearby where you can refuel with a well-earned hot drink or treat.

Remember — the muddier you are, the better the story.
