We recommend booking ahead online, though you can try at our cabin on the day. Make sure to check the activity’s requirements first, including age restrictions and supervision ratios. Please aim to arrive twenty minutes before your booking and check in at our cabin first thing. You can save time by having your group sign their Risk Acknowledgement beforehand, check your inbox for the link.

We’re a 45-minute drive from Manchester and a 25-minute drive from Bolton. Make sure you don’t access any private driveways or follow directions to Spring Cottage as this will take you the wrong way. We have our own car park in front of the cabin which is free, but it gets very busy so arrive in good time and share cars where you can. From Manchester, the South, Preston and Lancaster: Use the M61. At JCT 6 (Macron Stadium) follow signs for Horwich. Stay on the main road through Horwich. When you reach the roundabout with the Crown pub on the right, go straight ahead then take the right turning immediately after onto Lever Park Avenue signed Rivington. Follow signs to Great House Barn and Visitors Centre passing Rivington and Blackrod High School on the right and continue for about a mile. Turn left at Great House Barn into the car park and you'll find us straight ahead. From Chorley: Rivington is well sign posted. Pass Chorley Train station on your left and take the next left signed Rivington. At the top of the road, take the second exit (right) at the roundabout, and the first exit at the following roundabout. Continue on this road for 3 miles. Shortly after crossing the motorway on a bridge, take the left down Horrobin Lane and continue on this road through the village of Rivington until you reach Great house barn. We are on the right at the bottom of the car park.
Bolton station is a 25-minute bus ride followed by a 30-minute walk away. There are direct 20-minute trains from Manchester to Bolton. We’re also right by the ‘Lancashire Cycleway Route 91’ for anyone who’d like to get to us by bike. You can connect to it easily from Adlington Railway station. There are cycle stands at the cabin, but all bikes are left at their own risk (unfortunately Go Ape cannot take any responsibility for any damage or losses).
What to wear and bring
Dress for fun in the forest! Closed, sturdy shoes are a must — no heels, slip-ons, flip-flops or Crocs (they might be comfy, but they're not adventure-proof). Keep your midriff covered so your harness sits over clothing, and tie back long hair — we don't want it catching in the treetops.
Oh, and trust us on this one — don't wear white. The forest floor has a sense of humour, and it doesn't play nicely with laundry day. Our adventures are great in all weathers, as long as you're prepared!
Our blog covers what to wear in every season and what to bring for a brilliant day out.
