Adventures
Giving something back isn’t about being worthy – we just think it’s the right thing to do. And, because a belief in the benefits of adventure is at the heart of Go Ape, that’s reflected in our charitable work.
In early 2024 we were excited to partner with Explorers Connect and the Helen Davis Foundation to support the first Adventure Mind Grant, a fund to help overcome financial barriers and create adventures.
Explorers Connect is a non-profit organisation founded by explorer and campaigner Belinda Kirk. Similarly to Go Ape, its purpose is to help people live life more adventurously, creating experiences with personal development, wellbeing and community at the centre.
The Adventure Mind Grant is for individuals, families and small teams requiring support to make their adventure possible. Recipients also receive a Go Ape experience ahead of their adventure, to kickstart confidence building, resilience, and teamwork.
In 2021, Go Ape and The Prince’s Trust forged a partnership for the following two years. Together we have supported young people across the UK who are unemployed, struggling at school or at risk of exclusion.
True to the Go Ape spirit, there have been many adventurous events and projects throughout our partnership. Every member of our 900+ Go Ape tribe have had the opportunity to volunteer, get involved and fundraise in wider Prince's Trust events.
“We are looking forward to teaming up with The Prince’s Trust and supporting the vital work they do. We’re donating £60,000 in cash over the two years, and will be making our adventure experiences available to The Princes’ Trust.
Our wonderful tribe are always up for a challenge and we’ve got a bunch of fun and engaging fundraising activities in the pipeline as well as lots of volunteering opportunities.”
“We are very excited to be partnering with Go Ape for the next 2 years. The Go Ape team have a great track record of fundraising for meaningful causes and we have plans to engage staff and customers in exciting ways for the duration of the partnership.
Go Ape will be generously match funding their staff’s fundraising efforts and our teams will work together to provide sessions for young people on our personal development programmes such as Explore and Team. This is the great news we all need after a challenging 12 months for everyone!”
Our sites are located in some of the UK’s most valuable and beautiful environments and we take our responsibility to care for these areas seriously.
The origins of Go Ape lie in France. Back in 2001, Tris and Becs Mayhew were on holiday in the Auvergne.
