A collection of stories about incredible women who smash through any barriers and prove exactly how much they can do. The badass adventurers in this collection are all fearless, intelligent, compassionate and curious about the world. Every story is full of grit, courage, determination, triumph and heartbreak.
This adventure classic may ring some bells. On May 11th, 1996, author Jon Krakauer was attempting to climb Mount Everest when the weather at the summit turned, and a massive storm closed in. The result was one of the worst mountaineering disasters of our time. Into Thin Air tells the story of the courageous climbers on the mountain on that fateful day.
On his return to the US, Author, Bill Bryson, decided to hike the 2,200-mile-long Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail starts in Springer Mountain, Georgia, and ends at Mount Katahdin in Maine. Through his use of comedy, history and personal stories, Bryson makes the reader feel like they’re on the actual trail with him.
A Journal
Teachers are pretty old school (get it?), so they’re sure to love a classic journal to write down their adventures.
There is nothing like sitting down in a beautiful place and pouring your thoughts and emotions onto a page with pen and ink. In the moment, you capture the details of your adventures in a way a camera cannot and preserve precious memories between the pages.
Turn the tables and give them an assignment they’re sure to love with this gift.
A Plant
Bring the outdoors inside with a thoughtful desk plant. Flowers are temporary, but you can watch a plant bloom and grow throughout the school year and beyond.
Find a plant you think reflects your teacher’s personality. Are they bright and cheerful, like a flowering plant? How about a quirky Swiss Cheese plant? Or, maybe, a twisting bamboo plant will make them smile.
You could even rescue a plant on its last legs from your local superstore.
