The British summer… it’s a delightful mystery. One minute you're applying suncream and the next you're digging out the jumpers. But fear not, thrill-seekers! Here's how to pack for your Go Ape adventure without needing a whole suitcase.
This guide is your one stop solution for what to wear for Go Ape this summer, whatever the weather throws our way!
Now this is an important one: whatever the weather (even if it's sunny!), you should always wear closed-toe and heel footwear with a good grip. If we were you, we'd go for ankle-supporting boots. Definite no-nos are crocs, sandals, flip-flops, or any kind of slip-off shoe. And leave the stilettos at home!
keeping your Feet Warm and Dry
Wear moisture-wicking socks
Wear closed-toe and heel footwear
No crocs, sandals, flip-flops, or any kind of slip-off shoe
Opt for waterproof shoes which can keep the wet out
Our trees offer a significant amount of shade from direct sunlight, but it's important to protect yourself and your tribe from the sun.
Bring along a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes from the sun. Sunglasses can be especially useful on Forest Segway adventures to shield your eyes from any dust.
Also, remember to lather on the suncream! Even, if you're wearing long sleeves and trousers, it's important to apply sunscreen to all exposed skin to prevent sunburn or skin damage.
FYI water stations can be found at all of our UK Go Ape locations to keep your tribe hydrated. If you have your own bottle, many of our leafy hideouts are part of the refill.org scheme and one of our friendly team will be happy to help if you ask for a top up at the cabin.
It's the season of sun and time to leave drab uniforms and dull work-clothes behind! Stand out from the trees and embrace those bright colours. Bright and bold gear is all the rage at the moment, and when you're swinging through the tree tops at Go Ape, you'll appreciate being able to spot your chums from a distance.
Remember: you can take away, but if you don't pack them, you can't add!
It's always best to have a few layers to hand in case of a temperature change. Lighter, airy layers are always best in summer, as tighter dark clothing can trap heat and make you feel much hotter.
We suggest you wear something you don't mind getting grubby, perhaps a non-beloved t-shirt and shorts or lightweight trousers - try to avoid white! You can then layer that up with a jumper and possibly a coat if needed. And remember, no crop tops as your harness needs to sit over clothing, not on bare skin.
Gloves are always a good idea no matter the season. They protect your hands from the elements whilst also stylishly matching with your ensemble and, when tackling the high ropes at Go Ape, they will really protect your hands. Don't worry if you forget them though we sell them in the cabin.
Just because it's summer, that doesn't mean there won't be a downpour at some point in the day! With so many lightweight, packable waterproofs around these days, you can easily fit a mac into your bag. Trust us, it could come in handy!
Bags cannot be taken on our courses and should be stored in our lockers or your vehicle.
Luckily, Go Ape is the perfect wet weather activity! Our 37 locations are open in all conditions, except for lightning, storms, high winds and ice (for obvious reasons).
A bit of rain is to be expected during our great British summers and just makes our adventures slightly muddier than usual – only adding to the fun!
