What To Wear For Go Ape This Spring

The forest is bursting into life and it’s the perfect time for a Go Ape adventure! True to British form it’s common to experience all four seasons in one day during Spring so it’s important to be prepared. This blog unpacks everything you need to know about dressing for a Go Ape Spring adventure.

It’s getting warmer but the weather can still be tricky to predict in Spring, so it’s always best to check the forecast. Brace for mild to chilly temps, winds, and fresh spring showers. Dressing in layers is a smart way to adjust to fluctuating conditions. Remember: you can take away, but if you don't pack them, you can't add!

It's best to start the day with plenty of layers: perhaps a long-sleeved t-shirt and a fleece. You can then layer this up with a coat, body-warmer or even base layer if needed. 

Try to wear clothes you don't mind getting grubby, like non-beloved shirts and trousers – take it from us, avoid white garments!

When you visit Go Ape, you should get nice and toasty quickly; without realising you're exercising, you'll be burning anything from 500 to 700 calories. all that crawling, swinging, climbing and hollering sure works up a sweat!

How to Layer for a Spring adventure:

1. Begin with a light or moisture-wicking long sleeve shirt or t-shirt.
2. When it comes to outerwear, it's all about layering. Pick a mid-layer like a fleece or an insulated jacket to trap heat.
3. Top everything off with a waterproof and windproof outer shell.

Just because it's not raining when you leave the house doesn't mean there won't be a downpour at some point in the day! With so many lightweight, packable waterproofs options, you can easily fit a mac into your day bag (this can be left in lockers or in your car). Trust us, it could come in handy!

Top tip: Accessorising for Comfort and Safety

The cold can be harsh on your hands, feet, and face so don't skimp on your accessories! A cosy hat or beanie and thick socks are a great idea – even in Spring!

This is an important one. Whatever the weather (even if it's sunny), you should always wear closed-toe, flat footwear with a good grip. If we were you, we'd go for ankle-supporting boots. Definite no-no's are crocs, sandals, flip-flops, or any kind of slip-off shoe.

Whether the sky is blue or bleak, the last thing you want to do is camouflage with it by wearing grey yourself. Winter is over, so it’s time to say hello to bold and bright colours.

Bright and bold gear is all the rage at the moment, and when you're swinging through the tree tops on a Go Ape adventure, you'll appreciate being able to spot your chums from a distance. It's always wise to invest in the odd high-vis garment, as you can wear them for all your future outdoor pursuits.

Did you know that colours can impact your mood and emotions?

Warm colours, like red, orange, and yellow can be associated with feelings like passion and comfort. Meanwhile cooler colours, like blue, green, and purple, cab have a calming effect which counteracts feelings of anxiety.

Gloves are a good idea even in the Spring months! They protect your hands from the elements, they can stylishly match with your hat/scarf ensemble and, when tackling the high ropes at Go Ape, they will really protect your hands.
