Testimonial

"My son is not a natural at such things [high ropes challenges] so found it quite hard to start with, though he very much wanted to do it. However, your staff were very supportive, they allowed him to watch others go before him [down the zip wire] and suggested ways he could make it easier. He didn't do it the first time but after going round the second circuit, an achievement in itself as the swing bridge and cargo net were outside his comfort zone, he managed the [zip] slide then did the first circuit and [zip] slide again much faster. He said at the end he felt invincible which for a child who suffers from a lot of anxiety is priceless."

FAQs

Can I manage my booking online?

If you need to re-schedule your Go Ape adventure, you can do this using your online account up to 48 hours in advance of your session. If you didn’t create an account at checkout, you can still manage your booking by creating an account now using the same e-mail address that you used to make your booking.

Follow this process to re-schedule your adventure.

  1. Log in to your Go Ape account.
  2. In the menu on the left select ‘My Bookings’, and then ‘Upcoming Bookings’.
  3. You will then see a list of your bookings, select ‘Re-book’.
  4. Follow the onscreen prompts to select a new session.

Please note that there is a £5 fee for re-scheduling a booking within 7 days of your session. Bookings closer than 48 hours cannot be re-scheduled.

Do supervising adults need to buy a ticket?

A supervising adult will only need a ticket if they are participating in the activity.

Some of our activities do require adult supervision in the tree tops. Depending on the age of the children you are supervising, it is possible to supervise from the ground if you prefer. We recommend participating with your children so you can enjoy your adventure together, especially if it's their first time or they are feeling a little nervous.

Supervision requirements can be found on the location and activity pages of the website.

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear gloves for comfort. Bring your own or pre-order our recommended gloves and collect from our cabin.

We suggest that you wear something you don’t mind getting grubby. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if the forecast is for rain.

You need to make sure you have the correct footwear which can’t fall off easily. This should offer protection to your toes and heel. Please do not wear sandals, flip flops, Crocs, slip-off or high heel shoes.

Your stomach area will need to be covered to prevent the harness rubbing, and long hair must be tied back to prevent entanglements in the equipment.

When do I need to arrive?

Please allow plenty of time to park your car and use the toilets (as usage restrictions may be in place). You should aim to be at the cabin 15 minutes before your booked time. We will be operating a card only policy at the Go Ape cabin but some parking facilities may still be taking cash so do make sure that you bring some with you.

How long do Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure Plus take?

Participants will have one hour in the tree tops but please allow 2 hours for the complete experience which will include check-in, harnessing and safety briefing. Under 6's must have a supervising adult up on the course with them. We also recommend children under 1.2m tall have an adult with them on the course in case they need any help.

What is the difference between continous belay and self-belay

Both safety systems use a wire rope (cable) that runs through the Treetop courses.

For continuous belay courses, participants are connected to the cable by a lanyard (safety line) with a device called a trolley, which is connected on the ground before ascending, and remain continuously connected until back on the ground. Participants also have at least one additional line with a carabiner.

For continuous because courses children under 16 require supervision from an adult over 18 years. Children under 13 years require supervision from a participating adult at a ratio of 1 adult to 4 children. Children 13-15 years require supervising at a ratio of one adult to 8 children, and that adult can supervise from the ground or in the trees.

On self-belay courses participants have two safety lines each with a carabiner that clip to the cable. Adventures navigate the course moving one carabiner at a time whilst, and also have a device called a pulley to use on crossing and zip wires.

For self-belay courses children under 16 years require a supervising adult over 18 years in the trees with them at a ratio of 1 adult to 2 children.

Treetop Adventure and Treetop Adventure Plus courses all use the continuous belay safety system. The safety system for Treetop challenge varies by location. Please check the Treetop Challenge location page for your chose Go Ape destination to find out which safety system is in use.

What if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

Our staff at Go Ape are awesome, but not medically qualified, therefore cannot assess the capacity of participants to undertake a course. It remains your responsibility to undertake such an assessment prior to use of the course. We advise you to visit the course prior to booking to undertake your own risk assessment.
