Embark on an exciting journey to uncover the hidden gems of the butterfly world! Explore the tranquil depths of the forest and discover rare butterfly species in their natural habitat. In partnership with Butterfly Conservation, Forestry England strive to create the perfect environment for these delicate creatures to thrive. With over 30 different species recorded in their butterfly area, including the elusive Pearl Bordered Fritillary, one of Britain's most endangered butterflies, you're sure to spot something truly special. Witness the beauty and wonder of nature up close!
This trail shares its start with the Discovery Trail (below), until the waymarked turn. Steep in places and with varied surfaces the Butterfly Trail is suitable for the off-road mobility Trampers.

Come take a leisurely stroll on the fully surfaced gentle trail, perfect for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Enjoy the stunning views as you take in the natural beauty of the surroundings, and take a break at one of the many resting points. But this trail isn't just for adults, kids will love it too with fun play features scattered throughout the trail. With something for the whole family to enjoy, it's the perfect all-ability trail.

Wander the diverse forest environments of Haldon on this captivating trail where you can immerse yourself in nature and for bird enthusiasts, don't forget to visit the popular bird of prey viewpoint - bring your binoculars and be prepared to be amazed!
The trail is fully surfaced and suitable for the off-road mobility Trampers. Be prepared for some steep ascents and descents, as you navigate through the forest, but the stunning views are well worth the effort.
