How to prepare for your Go Ape Adventure

We can't wait to welcome you for your Go Ape forest adventure. You’re in for an unforgettable experience, and to really make it the best it can be it’s important that you arrive on time, dressed correctly and ready to go.

We have a few rules for your safety and some guidance below.

Before you leave home to travel to Go Ape

So that you can focus on having fun and living in the moment on your Go Ape adventure, we suggest taking a bit of time before your visit to help your arrival run smoothly.

  • Plan your journey. Directions and travel information for all of our destinations can be found on our location pages. We aim to keep these pages up to date with temporary travel information like roadworks and local events that may affect your journey, however we suggest checking your sat nav and visiting the landlord's website.

  • Aim to arrive at the Go Ape cabin at least 15 minutes before the start of your session.

  • Research car parking and bring both change and a card for payment. More parking information can be found on our landlord's website.

  • Sign your waiver. Every participant must have a signed disclaimer, and under 16s require their waiver to be signed by an adult over 18 present for the duration of their activity, and in some cases participating. The person that booked your adventure will have been sent an e-mail with a link to complete your waiver. Doing this before you arrive will make your check-in quicker.

Clothing and Jewellery Rules

  • No heels, slip-off shoes, open toed or heeled footwear, this includes crocs and sandals.

  • No bare mid-riffs, your harness must be fitted over clothing.
  • Long hair must be tied back. For Forest Segways you will need to make sure your helmet can be fitted.
  • No hooped earrings on our high-ropes courses. For Nets Adventure all piercings need to be removed or covered with tape.
  • Remove or cover other jewellery.

What we recommend

Prepare to get a little grubby! Choose sturdy shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy. Trainers or walking boots are ideal. Light layers are good when it’s warm and insulating layers when it’s cold or waterproofs when it's wet. Synthetics and wicking clothes are good, they're breathable, dry quickly and often have a bit of stretch.

  • Look after your hands – we suggest wearing gloves, they are available to purchase at our cabins.
  • You don’t need a water bottle; we have water stations around our high-ropes courses, but please hydrate before you arrive.

  • Sunglasses are great for sunny days as well as our Forest Segway adventures when it's dry and dusty. Glasses retainers are available to purchase from our cabins.
  • When it's warm bring sunscreen, a sun hat and bug spray is always a good idea, even in spring and autumn.

  • Prepare for Forest Segways to be a bit cooler so bring along extra layers and gloves – even if you don’t think you'll need them. Draft excluders/toobs and gloves are available from our cabins. You will need to wear a helmet so no bobble hats.

Handy Things to have in a car or backpack

To make the most of your adventure we recommend having a few things ready in the car or a backpack.

  • A spare change of clothes in case you get grubby - this is quite likely!

  • Food and drink to hydrate and energise before and after your adventure.
  • A towel, just in case.
