Go Ape are delighted to announce the appointment of Helen Moreton as the Chair Director of their Employee Ownership Trust and Chair of their Co-owner Council to support their recent transition to an employee-owned business.
In October 2021, Go Ape became Employee Owned and have since established an Employee Council to offer employee input into company conversations. This council include “Tribe Members” from all areas of Go Ape, including instructors, site managers, and support teams.
Helen Moreton has been an active part of the Employee-Owned Sector for over twenty years in both an operational and non-executive capacity. She spent 18 years at the John Lewis Partnership in a variety of independent and strategic roles and now works with several other EO businesses in a Chairing, Coaching, Advisory, and Developmental capacity. These businesses include Riverford Organic Farmers, Lush, Architype and Turley.
Helen Moreton said, “I am delighted to be appointed by Go Ape as the Chair Director of their Employee Ownership Trust and Chair of their Co-owner Council. Working with organisations that genuinely care about their purpose, people, and impact, deeply matters to me. I am therefore truly inspired by Go Ape’s commitment to being socially and environmentally responsible and their plans to develop this even further in the future.
Within Employee Ownership there are key principles that ensure a fairer, healthier, and more resilient way of doing business. These principles focus on how you invest in individuals through sharing knowledge and power which in turn builds an engaged and empowered workforce that are aligned to the organisational purpose. As Go Ape’s Independent Trustee and Chair of the Co-owner Council I will use my knowledge and experience, alongside my passion for EO, to stimulate debate and inform decision making for the benefit of the business and its beneficiaries.”
Go Ape Director, Ben Davies also added, “We would like to thank Helen for agreeing to join and welcome her to the Tribe. The move to becoming an Employee-Owned business is an exciting step in Go Ape’s journey. Helen joining us in this key role gives us assurance that we can face the future confidently. Helen brings a wealth of experience and skills to the role that will ensure our new co-owners are well supported while we continue to develop the company.”
