Celebrating International Women's Day 2024

Inspire Inclusion

Go Ape are proud to celebrate International Women's Day on the 8th  of March 2024.

This year's theme, 'Inspire Inclusion', encourages us to reflect on the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunities for women around the globe. At Go Ape, we believe in empowering women and providing a platform for their accomplishments and contributions.

In this blog, we will share some snippets from the incredible adventurous stories of the women in our business. Many of these adventures were made possible with help from Go Ape’s Adventure Fund, as well as our subsidised Naturally Powered Trips.

A Cycling Adventure Around Italy

Go Ape Battersea instructor Kshanika set off on a cycling adventure around Sicily, Italy and possibly further afield.

Back in 2015, I cycled from London to Italy with my father, who is an avid cyclist and lover of the great outdoors. However, this time I decided to push myself to do it alone, with the hope that I could rise to the challenge and overcome everything that was thrown at me...

A Peruvian Adventure

In June 2023 Go Ape Instructor Kirsty set off on an intrepid expedition from the Peruvian Rainforests along the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu.

The lodge was like something out of a film, wooden huts with mesh windows and hammocks. The Capuchin and Howler monkeys acted as our morning alarms and there was chat of Jaguars and Boa Constrictors near camp.

Hiking the West Highland Way

Heidi set off on a expedition along the stunning West Highland Way, a 96-mile long-distance footpath in the Scottish Highlands, from Glasgow to Fort William.

It all started back in the bleak of midwinter. I was listening to Sam Heughan’s audio book, Way Points, and dreaming of summertime hikes! Inspired by other Go Ape colleagues' adventures, I started planning my trip to hike the West Highland Way.

An adventure along the North Coast 500

Co-owners Mel and Dave and their two dogs set out on the ultimate Scotland Road trip along the North Coast 500.

The drive from Durness to Scourie was stunning, the dramatic mountains on either side of the single-track roads made us feel like we were driving through a Lord of the Rings set. After seeing that the campsite in Scourie was on the beach, we decided to park up for the rest of the day and hit the water on our paddle boards.

FUN IN FRANCE

Instructors Megan and Sophie from Go Ape Leeds Castle set off for an adventure to France in their van, Kelvin.

We spent a whole 10 days in France road-tripping, starting from Calais and reaching as far as Chamonix with a whole lot of exploring In between. This adventure was filled with everything Soph, and I LOVE to do. We ran, hiked, sunbathed, climbed many Via Ferratas, swam, parasailed, ate lots of pizza and drank A-LOT of beer!
