THE GOLIATH OF OUTDOOR ADVENTURE

Feel the anticipation build on the long winding approach to Go Ape Grizedale which nestles between the lakes Coniston Water and Windermere.

Even by our standards, these are super high courses but the stunning views across the incredible Lake District, with mountains and lakes as your backdrop, are worth the inevitable increase in heart rate.

Grizedale Forest is a haven for zip wire lovers. Each of the high ropes courses offer seriously long flights but the king of forest flying is Zip Trekking Adventure – a spine-tingling 3km aerial adventure. Once you’ve unhooked yourself from your tree high travels why not try one of the 10 walking trails ranging from 1 to 10 miles.

If you’re feeling fit head up to the highest point in Grizedale Forest which offers a spectacular 360-degree view of the Lake District fells.

Bring or hire bikes. There are several cycling routes, some on forest roads and others for more extreme cyclists.

Keep your eyes wide open – Grizedale is the home to the largest site-related ‘Sculpture in the Forest’ exhibition in the country.

Pack up a picnic or grab a drink and a bite to eat at the Visitor Centre tearoom.

Know Before You Go

  • Wear sensible clothes for adventure.
  • Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
  • Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.

Make A Day of It

  • Get out and about in the forest on one of the walking or cycling routes.
  • Explore the famous sculpture trail.
  • The Courtyard Café is the perfect spot to re-fuel.
  • Excellent day out with fabulous instructors. Will be back.

    Jacky

  • Great morning on the zip trekking adventure. Our instructors, Dave and Will were fun but professional and we felt safe throughout

    Keith Taylor

  • Great segwaying .. we were lucky there were only 2 in our group so managed to make the most of our 1 hour and covered some good distance !

  • Great day! We did the tree top junior with two 8 year olds. One needed a bit of extra help early on and the staff were great, built her confidence and by the end we couldn’t keep her off it. You get an hour to go round as many times as you can, I think we did about six loops. There are three routes to choose from with a zip slide at the end of every one. Great setting if a little tricky to get to on some narrow roads. All in all a great family day out.

  • Zip trekking adventure. The place is amazing, all the staff were welcoming and polite. Great day out

  • Amazing experience and superb team at Grizedale GoApe.., cannot express how grateful we were to Justin who recognised a problem from the ground, and climbed up and gave our 9 year old the confidence to go across the single beam with him... we had an amazing time which was helped by both Justin and Matt (plus another guy with silver hair I didn’t get the name to, soz!), plus my fear of height has somewhat been conquered ..,, recommend this to everyone, it was awesome.
