Your Ultimate Half-Term Survival Guide

Calling all parents! How is it nearly half term already? We don’t remember the summer holidays passing by this quickly! The weather may be getting cooler but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! In fact, at Go Ape, we have activities for all ages and, what’s more, you can do them come rain or shine! Whether you’re cautiously or keenly anticipating the October half-term, here’s a survival guide to keep you and your little monkeys busy!

Less screens more SCREAMS

After lockdown, and weeks of being in school, why not put away the gadgets and treat your family to a little time outdoors? Have an electronic detox and dust off your tent for a short break (or perhaps try a glamping or caravan long weekend). There are also over 30 Go Ape locations nationwide, at all major holiday destinations, so why not spend a day climbing, zipping and zooming through the forest. For younger monkeys try out our Treetop Adventure and Nets Adventure activities and for older adventurers test your skills on our Treetop Adventure+, Treetop Challenge and Forest Segway experiences. Please see our individual adventure pages for height and weight restrictions.

Bring Your Bikes

Many of our locations are also home to amazing bike trails. Check out the location that you will be visiting and either bring along your bikes or see if you can hire some for the day. For more details please check individual site information.

Embrace Our Great British Weather

Most people know that, any true British day contains at least two seasons of weather (and a bit of rain). This half-term accept that you may get a little muddy, dress accordingly and you’ll have a blast. Splash through those puddles, squelch in the mud and blow away the cobwebs with our fantastic autumn adventures.

Always Be Prepared for a Picnic

With all of our sites situated in amongst forests, moors or mountains there is always a stunning spot to enjoy a picnic lunch after taking part in our adventures. Wander through acres of woodlands from the Lake District to Dartmoor and appreciate the countryside with a snack or flask of tea. Alternatively, our sites often have nearby cafes or visitor centres with delicious treats which can supplement a picnic.

Make the most of natural Arts and Crafts

If you’re searching for a little arty inspiration this half-term look no further than the forest around you. Once you've finished your Go Ape experience why not gather some leaves, pinecones and pretty stones to take home and make your very own creations. Press flowers or leaves, create a natural tapestry or draw a picture of your experience (and send it to us!)

Night or Day We’re Here For You

Don’t let the dark stop your adventure this half-term as our Sundown sessions will be continuing into the night. Enjoy our Sundown Zips, Sundown Trees, Sundown Nets and Sundown Segways activities, to name just a few, and spend an unforgettable evening beneath a sunset or starry sky. Everyone knows that the fun truly begins when the sun goes down!
