Haldon

Against the backdrop of the stunning Dartmoor, Go Ape Haldon Forest is as far south as we venture. Your adventure though is definitely northwards as you scale the heights of the treetops. A great location for thrill seekers and family adventurers with hilltop to hilltop zip wires and daring high level crossings. You may be deep in the forest but the 360-degree views from your treetop vantage point are spectacular.

LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTURE IN DEVON?

Go Ape Haldon is the gateway to fun and adventure on the moors. You’ll find us 15-minutes from Exeter nestled in 3,500-acres of woodland. Whether sat on top of a tree or moving between sites on the course you’ll get to appreciate the beauty of the Dartmoor landscape.

With its many walking and cycling trails it’s a busy park, popular with mountain bikers and walking groups. Take your pick from four walking trails and five high-adrenaline cycling trails. Bike hire is available at the site.

There are a children’s play area and a number of trails to entice the children into the forest including the Discovery Trail which has lots of fun features, regular resting points and the promise of stunning views along the Jurassic Coast. If the younger members of your group are new to two wheels, it’s also a great trail for beginner cyclists.

Make a day of it – there are a number of picnic areas or grab a drink and bite to eat in the Ridge Café.

Know Before You Go

  • Wear sensible clothes for adventure.
  • Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
  • Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.

make a day of it

  • Bring or hire bikes to explore the mountain bike trails.
  • Take the children on a forest journey with Zog the dragon.
  • Let the kids blow off steam in the children’s play area.
  • Venture over to Canonteign Falls, England’s highest manmade waterfall.
  • What an amazing day. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The weather was beautiful. The zip wires were great as they are quite long ( compared to the one at Winlatter, in The Lake District) this is our second visit to the one in Exeter and we will definitely return again. The cafe was also amazing, with a lovely log burner and bacon and egg rolls!!

  • I couldn’t ask for better as a birthday treat to my 12 years old and her bestie. They were happy, I personally don’t like heights but I still enjoy myself. You can take as long as you need to go around the course. Gate locks do need to be sorted, just be persistent, you will understand. Enjoy it.

  • We all had a fantastic time! The staff were very good and explained all the safety aspects to us before we set off. We had such a laugh - or was it hysteria?! It was very exciting/scary/exhilarating and when we finished we wanted to go round again. Will definitely go back!
