Adventure with a stunning backdrop

Cannock Chase is the smallest Area of Outstanding Beauty in mainland Britain and promises to deliver big time fun and adventure. Within an hours’ drive of Birmingham, a stone's throw away from Trentham and easy to reach distance from Leicester, it’s the perfect opportunity to escape the city for the day!

Once you climbed and whizzed your way around the trees you can explore the woodland on one of the many walking trails. Hire or bring your own bikes to enjoy the miles of cycling and mountain biking trails.

There’s something to suit all ages and abilities with relaxing family rides through the picturesque valleys to the dedicated single-track of Follow the Dog and the Monkey Trail. For children there’s a play area and a walking trail with Gruffolo sculpture, three bears chairs, fairy trees and Play Houses.

Look out for the Zog Activity Trail and learn as Zog did at dragon school. More steam to blow off? Bring a ball and enjoy a kick about in the large grassy clearing and picnic area. There’s also the Birches Valley Café if you want to grab a drink and delicious culinary treat. Dogs are welcome – there’s even an activity trail for your four-legged friends!

  • Great staff at Cannock, Jack, our guide, was very friendly and helpful. My Girlfriend had a bit of a fear of heights related wobble half way along the first section, once down she said she couldn’t go any further and with no fuss Go Ape offered a refund for her ticket. More than expected to be honest. Definitely recommend to others.

  • The course was really good and a fun challenge, what I was a little disappointed in was the fact you were left alone to complete the course. From reading reviews I expected someone to be present whilst you went round the course to help you and encourage you if needed.

  • We had a fantastic time and can't wait to go again. It was good that there was the opportunity to complete different circuits dependent upon the childs level of confidence and ability. My 4 year old granddaughter was happy to stick to the simpler circuit and built up her confidence to go down the zip wire on her second circuit. The staff were great. Their approach also helped her to develop her confidence and to have fun.

  • We did the tree top adventure, it's Extremely scary, and character building if you're not great with heights, but it's achievable even if you're a bit of a chicken (which I am). I think the age restriction should be set from 10 to 12 as our 10 year old (who is a gymnastic dare devil any other time) struggled with the clips to detach herself from the blue clip on each tree. She also decided not to climb even higher up the tree to get to the 2nd zip wire, which was a shame and she was gutted she couldn't ride the 2nd zip, she lost her nerve. Great confidence boost when you achieve something that you may find a challenge. We did it on a lovely, sunny, calm spring day, however I don't know how I'd have felt if it had been a rainy, damp, windy day. If I could have altered anything I would have liked bigger platforms around the trees to make you feel a little safer. The staff were great, though I'd have felt better if someone was on the ground watching all the time, they leave you to it after the first zip wire. On the whole though, a good day out if you're looking for something different to do.

  • The staff were fantastic, the equipment was in very good condition, site was clean. Great hour of fun with two different courses to choose from. My 10 year old son loved it.
